Mind Control - Is It Possible?

Hi folks !

Remembered instances of Intuition in your life?!

Of Coincidences ?!

Send up a tentative prayer to the Universe to send you some and promise that you will be watchful and aware.

Dont forget to send up Thanks too.

Thank you, Mandar. Glad that you are happy with the explaination.

Looking forward to new questions!

This goes for everyone!

Do send in your experiences, doubts, thoughts and queries.

Will make me study more too!

After all, I do intend to pass my Final Moment in Awareness and Equanimity, for which, theory is as important as practise!

And it is a great subject, isn't it?!

We have two queries this time.

One on long-distance mind-control.

Is it possible?

And more on our Spirit Guides and Masters.

The first one.

Long-distance mind-control is not possible.

Even short-distance one is not possible!

Try putting (your) sense into your own kids - or husband - or wife.

Or even friends and colleagues!

Ha!

So why not?

Are you aware that each one of us has our own, individual Aura?

An Aura is an electro-magnetic field surrounding us at all times.

We are born with it.

Most of us can not see it with our eyes.

One usually feels it only when it is disturbed, like in a crowded place, a train, a bus or when one is jostled and pushed.

The irritation caused is because along with the body the aura too is experiencing all the friction.

One is relieved when one gets out of such places.

Thats the reason why many love the sea-side,mountains and hills, sometimes, without knowing why.

The air is purer, cleaner and the aura is at peace, not pushed around.

It is also ones own shield and it protects one from bad vibrations which come ones way.

A strong mind will repulse negtive messages coming its way automatically, but a weak one will also not 'obey' orders from another person unless he/she themselves want to be nasty to someone.

There are certain cameras which can photograph the aura in all its multi-coloured hues.

An expert in the field can correctly diagnose the illness, if any, and suggest alternative therapies which will go hand-in hand with whatever medical treatment is going on.

How powerful the shield is, depends on what has gone into making it before taking birth, in all the previous lifetimes.

The mere fact that one is born a human is proof that one has progressed from other forms and is graduating in the soul's journey.

Ones mental makeup, thoughts and attitudes has a bearing.

Meditating regularly also strengthens it.

So it is both- what one has come with, and what one is doing now, in this lifetime.

Now you may have heard of long-distance healing.

There are specific steps and one can send healing to the person in another place or country.

This can and does happen because a disease of the body can be controlled and treated to an extent without even the person's knowledge.

The healing would of course be more effective if the receiver is aware and ready to receive and be healed.

In healing, powerful and good 'healing' vibes are sent which the intended person's aura and body will accept even if that person is unaware of it.

But the mind will not be controlled.

The physical body will respond but not the mental one.

It is its own Boss, good deeds or bad!

I had tried to make someone dear to me abstain from smoking through long distance Reiki, but without his knowledge.

It did not work beyond a very short time because though it was good for his health to kick the habit, his mind was not ready for it.

Mental powers cannot be used for negative purposes.

It does not work.

On the other hand, it has a powerful boomerang effect on the sender.

If you wish a headache on your boss or ill on someone, its sure going to come back to you gathering a lot more force along the way.

(No, I did not start smoking! My intention was good!).

There are causes other than friction and crowds which may unsettle or damage the aura.

They are, being negative, constantly critical, self-centred, on a short fuse, unhelpful, a slave to addiction, and nurturing fears and phobias.

Basically, being unaware of how precious this life, mind and body is.

This happens when one believes that this is one's only life and one can do what one wishes with it.

This is equal to a child doing all the wrong things and none of the right ones in the Fifth Std because he insists or finds it convinient to believe that there is no Sixth Std to go to.

Merely drifting through without a conscious effort of learning and improving.

Awareness and meditation, a conscious positive outlook definitely goes a long way in strengthening ones mind and aura.

I think one should not stay where one is.

What we have come with is Destiny written by us, but each of us needs to use our own Free Will which comes right along with it to feel empowered and positive and happy.

So that answers Ajit's query.

We will learn more about our very patient and long-suffering Spiritual Guides and Masters next time!

Do give them a helping hand!

Be positive and happy!

Intuition

Hi folks !

So have there been happenings in your life which you can now identify as a Coincidence?!

Think back!

Mandar has sent two queries.

Where the first one is concerned, about mentioning Mumbai and actually landing there, I think more than a coincidence, it was a strong wish at play.

Two years is a long time.

For various reasons, maybe at a subconscious level, you may have wondered if going to Mumbai would serve your prospects better.

Thoughts create their own vibrations and if it resonates with your learning at a spiritual level, coincides with what you decided for yourself in this life or before taking birth.

Like, for example, 'I will learn self-reliance'.

Or patience - which you need a lot of, in Mumbai !

Or independence - then you will land there.

Now you can actually check for yourself.

Have you made progress on the material level?

Learnt new skills?

Widened your horizons?

Also, at a personal level.

Have you, maybe even subconsciously, learnt perseverance?

Or pragmatism?

Or aggression, standing up for yourself- the list would be endless.

Regarding the second one, there was something else at play, something wonderful , which all of us have, most of us ignore, but really, we ALL need to develop.

Intuition !

How much attention do we pay to this wonderful phenomenon?

And where do Intuitions come from?!

I did a workshop a few days ago in which the Mind was defined as 'a perceived ball of energy 12' in diameter with its centre in the navel'.

If you accept it, its not hard to understand that THAT is where the gut-feeling comes from!

We have a conscious mind and an unconscious one.

The conscious one is slightly bigger than the tip of an iceberg.

Only 10% of the whole.

It is what we work with in our waking moments.

Learning, analysing, processing, deciding etc.

It operates on a superficial, every-day level which is necessary for routine survival.

It is the Sub-conscious which is so very interesting!

Imagine!

What each one of us is carrying with us all the time !

Our sub-conscious is the reason why mere change of place or job or taking to suppressants has no long- term positive effect.

It is equivalent to applying excellent medicine on the throbbing wound- with the thorn intact deep inside.

The subconscious is the repository of all that we have experienced before, in each and every lifetime.

It is not concerned with the day-today muddles of our lives.

It carries on peacefully, wisely, even as we get agitated over everything.

It sends us signals all the time, but there is a thick wall of 'Shut-up, I know better, I cant do that, Are you crazy?, What will people say?' - a nd so on.

So it goes back to its peaceful existence.

Wouldnt you do the same?

Dont we all do the same?

But sometimes, we heed its warning.

Even if it is not what we really wanted to do.

The effects, in a larger perspective turn out to be good, though still not to our complete liking.

The next time, we heed again, maybe less grudgingly.

Then the next, until we realize that we can depend on our own Intuition, this friend-guide-philosopher, and lead a happy and spiritually satisfying life which is materially not too bad either.

The only way to develop one's intuition is to follow that thought in your mind which seems to have popped up from nowhere.

It seems like nowhere because it has come from too close. From deep within!

In Mandar's case, I think it was his Intuition telling him to check things, that may be the time was not right for him.

Again, he can check back based on what has happened since then in his personal life which brought about this proffessional change of plans.

Also, things may not have worked out as promised or as promisingly as was expected then, so he may have been saved difficult times in America.

It may have been imperative for him to learn right here, along with certain other things falling in place for some others, of which he may or not be aware right now at a conscious level.

So here, it was his intuition which warned him about the coincidence !

Each of us has gone through something similar.

It causes less anxiety and disappointment when we analyse at teast in retrospect and close it for good.

Listen to your conscience through your intuition, and stay on the ethical, the right path.

You wont have to do anything seperately to become spiritual.

In other words, you may already be spiritual and not even know it, and thats the best way to be!

So long for now -

Coincidences

Hi folks !

I hope all of you are happy and peaceful even when rushing about doing your work and living your life!

Take a nice, slow deep breath once in a while and feel it coming in and going out.

Smile!

Bijjal, nice to hear from you and that too in connection with brothers Vispi and Rattoo!

You gave me a topic too, one of my favourites!

Coincidences!

Do you, dear readers, think that things happen coincidentally??

Does something - or anything, happen by chance or by design?

Once, I believed that a coincidence was God's grace, that I had earned it by my good behaviour or prayer or He made it happen to compensate His earlier indifference to my pleas or right(eous) demands!

But even when I was behaving good, I always wondered if that was enough.

Weren't the thoughts going on in ones mind important too?

Why did coincidences happen so suddenly or unexpectedly?

They did not seem to come around when I had been a good soul for a long time, whereas at other times they happened when I had been short-tempered or lazy or bad.

In short, they happened when they happened, not always when I wanted them and not specifically by anyone's grace or curse.

Some coincidents were inexplicable at that time and for some time after too.

Then I looked at what did happen AFTER the coincidence took place, and there was the answer!

Just look back into your experiences -you meet someone at the most opportune moment who gives you a piece of news, a direction, some information which turns out to be quite useful to whatever you are doing or thinking at that time.

It is not earthshaking, every time.

Maybe a call or a mail from someone nice which puts one in a better mood.

Many times, it sows seeds to a friendship or business or a relationship which takes off either immideately or after a while -or not at all.

A coincidence can be called the fruit of ones past karma.

One has it coming!

One may have planned on the big ones before taking birth, when everyone, in the in-between stage, charts out ones lessons to learn and progress to be achieved.

But every huge Oak or Banyan tree starts as a small seed and so it is with coincidences, each one is for a purpose, and may seem insignificant at that time.

However, many times, YOU may be used as a channel for someone else's coincidence!

For eg. you come across a lost person and give direction.

Read a book you dont much agree with but then found someone to give it to whose life changed completely!

One doesnt know which is going to turn into a miracle.

Some coincidences do turn out nasty.
There may be heartache, cheating, loss of esteem or money or many things which are not pleasant.
Well, they teach too, to be careful, trusting to a point and to be incharge of ones own life.

With everyKkarma comes something else, without fail, like the other side of the same coin, and that is FREE WILL.

Coincidences happen, but what one does with them is ones own choice and it should be a conscious decision, one should not just drift into it.

So one can actually decide to be positive and helpful and happy and become a channel for other people's coincidences.

The universe always gives back, or one can say, with such seed sown, sooner or later, one is going to benifit too.

So go ahead and believe in them!Knowing Bijjal has already been a joy and there may be more to unfold!

Similarly with others who touch ones life and whose life we touch. If the reason wants to remain a mystery for a while, let it!

Think back on the coincidences in your life and enjoy them with a smile.

In case they were not very pleasant, think over them a little more and make sure you have learnt the lesson they had come to teach.

Send up thanks to the universe and be prepared, happily, for the next one!

Bye for now-

Automatic Writing

Hi folks !

How's life ?

THANK YOU Vinayak and Ranjana for your comments on the 2 blogs on VIPASSANA !

I was a bit worried about sounding complicated.

The meditation is easy to follow as the instructions are precise, and the results, very powerful and uplifting.

I hope all of you will do it at least once.

Its the most wonderful gift you can give yourself, knowing oneself and feeling empowered without depending on any external being or force - not even The Buddha himself !

Just the technique.

Today, I want to tell you about something interesting called Automatic Writing.

In this, first of all, you need to be given a connection to someone who has crossed over( or, to put it simply, died) by someone authorised to do so.

Of course, it will come through only if that other soul is also willing to communicate on a regular basis.

Why do some requests not come through ?

That soul may be very busy doing its chosen tasks.

I had read in an article that after the Tsunami, there was a virtual traffic-jam.

Each of us has a guardian angel, but in extreme times like this, there is more work involved.

Usually, it does not take very long for a person to realise that he/she is dead and that they should now go along with the reception committee which has so gently and patiently been waiting and explaining.

However, after the Tsunami, it was different.

Entire villages and settlements were wiped out in-situ.

Along with the domesticated dogs and cats and cows and buffallos.

The wild ones out in the open or in the forests, their connection with the Mother Earth as sharp as ever, had instinctively taken themselves to a safer spot.

The many hundreds of thousands would just not believe that they had died.

Why, here was the village and ma and pa and uncles, aunts and grandma and grandpa and the animals too.

It took a long time to convince them and take them to the Hall Of Rest to recoup.

Wars, battles, skirmishes, terrorist attacks-where people die in large numbers at one time, that's where our loved ones work very hard.

They also try to put sense into the leaders' heads, but the Earth's vibrations have been contaminated very badly by the selfish, cruel and indifferent behaviour of those in power so the success rate here is rather dismal !

Another reason could be that the person you want to communicate with may be in a realm from where this is not possible.

Those in the lower three cannot do this.

Thirdly, the soul you asked for may be continuing with its studies on the other side.

In physics, chemistry, maths, theatre, poetry or music.

Or many other things-

Another reason could be that the person is already reincarnated or is going to, in a short while.

If you have crossed all these hurdles and got your connection, you have to first check that it is authentic.

How does it work ?

You have to say your given prayers and keep your mind blank and let your hand be guided.

It writes.

There are squiggles, lines , curves and then the words.

They say what is best for us at that time, they dont always answer our sneaky questions !

It must be done in day-time, a particular time of the day because they leave whatever they are doing and come to answer our silly queries.

Why do it ?

Good question !

For me, on this quest of the unknown, it was my first connection with the other side.

One feels a loving presence, the hand moves, the words come to your mind first, but they are not your own.

There is guidance, caring, blessing and love.

As one gets used to it, sometimes there are warnings about health or to be more vigilant.

Mostly, they want us to walk on the ethical path.

Not get hurt by other people's uncaring words or action.

It definitely makes one think differently and the outlook does become more positive even when things are bad.

The writing is proof that there IS another world that we are unaware of as yet, but it is there.

What the writing does do is to give you courage to walk on the right path.

What it does not do is agree with everything you say or feel is right.

Right now, the only person I know of who has the authority to get this permission is NAN UMRIGAR.

Her 17yr old Champion Derby rider son KARL died in a fall from his horse.

Nan aunty took her connection from VISPI and now Karl is carrying forward the good work, especially after KHORSHED BHAVNAGARI aunty left to be with her dear departed family.

I have already given you VISPI and RATTOO'S site in an earlier blog.

In case you are interested, you can send your query to them too, someone else may have been given the responsibility.

Nan aunty's id is-
umrigar@vsnl.com

So long for now, folks.

Vipassana - 2

Hi folks!

Ever tried being aware of your breath?!

Just your normal, natural breath will do.

Try now with three continuous breaths.

1-2-3 !

Now let's see what we covered in the last blog.

In a 10-day Vipassana course, in the first three days, one learns to be aware of one's natural breath as it comes in and goes out.

The mind runs away every now and then to pleasant and unpleasant memories.
One brings it back gently.

Again.

And again.

One also learns that the body experiences physical sensations like heaviness, numbness, pain etc. etc. all the time and learns to feel this phenomenon on a given spot on the body.

This is called ANAPANA.

In VIPASSANA, one is taught to go all over one's body experiencing the sensations and learning NOT to react to them.

Thoughts and sensations come together.

Both come uninvited and unasked.

Thoughts swing us like a yoyo, enslave us.

It is difficult to control them because they have no body.

So one concentrates on the physical sensation which accompanies it on the body and remains equanimous to it.

This effectively weakens it and the stranglehold of emotions on oneself loosens.

Yes, it does!

The mind, unburdened, lives in peace and experiences harmony.

Honestly, it does!

On the 10th day, one is taught the third part of this technique called METTABHAVANA.

It means loving kindness.

In the entire course, one works only on ones own body, removing the impurities of thought as they appear in the form of sensations on its surface and inside.

One feels light and joyous and forgiving and calm.

In METTA, one meditates and distributes these happy vibrations to everyone, going beyond ones body, giving freely to friend and foe, whoever comes in front of your mind's eye.

It is an extremely powerful and moving meditation, made all the more so because here one is giving away merits earned by very hard work.

It is sheer pleasure and a new experience to come out of the course feeling empty, not even burdened by righteous thoughts and feelings of having collected merits or done great good deeds for the world.

All one does if one follows the instructions correctly is to get rid of ones own toxic emotional baggage and feel peaceful.

The surroundings and world at large automatically benifits because one starts to give out calm, happy, peaceful vibrations.

During a 10-day course, one learns a lot about oneself.

One of the pre-requisites is that one has to maintain Noble Silence for 9 days out of 10.

That is, no communicating with ones eyes or signs.

No writing or reading is allowed.

What is required, to put it simply, is to live with oneself, dig out those root causes which hamper ones progress in every field and come out lighter, aware and equanimous.

The arrangements are such that there is no need to talk at all.

I follow the one taught by Shri. Satyanarayan Goenka.

It has branches in many countries.

He follows The Buddha's dictats completely, does not waver in the teaching or the discipline.

I will give you the sites.

If you wish, and I do hope you do, you can do a course.

The most important part of Goenkaji's courses is, that they run on voluntary donation.

There is no fixed charge for boarding or lodging or the teaching.

How would one put a value on such a teaching, anyway?!

Now can you discern a difference between the Buddha's teaching and Hinduism as it came to be practised?

Even The Buddha's Teaching became an 'ism' when people stopped practising it and started merely talking about it.

Many local rituals got added to it wherever it went and the main task of going within, identifying sensations and remaining equanimous slowly took a back seat.

The practise of VIPASSANA ensures liberation to the person who practises it.

Other religions talk of saints and gods and godesses who would take one into heaven however nastily one behaved, by merely praying to them.

Vipassana definitely teaches self-accountability, therefore, it forever empowers one to be self-reliant and positive and peaceful.

Now for the sites. Do read the code of conduct before committing.

Vipassana - 1

HI folks !

Sorry for the delay !

I've been writing, deleting and rewriting this to explain the theory as simply as the actual practise is.

Not easy !
Give me a 30-day course any day !

Mandar has asked a very interesting question.

Actually, there IS a difference between Hinduism and what has been named as 'Buddhism'(- our name, not The Buddha's )!

Let me tell you what it was that The Buddha taught, then the answer will be clearer.

The Buddha taught in Pali, the common man's language of North India of his time, so that the illeterate could also understand the technique clearly and liberate themselves.

In Pali, 'PASSA' means to see, and 'VIPASSANA' means to see in a special way.

He had practised all the meditations that were available at that time but had found that they did not end the cycle of birth, illness, old age and death.

Working backwards, he realised that it was the mind's craving, aversion or ignorance at the moment of death that were causing the rebirths.

It was the mind's habit pattern that it wallowed in any of these three emotions all the time, without a moment's respite when alive, and therefore, when dying.

The mind, then, was the key, and it had to be reined in.

The Buddha saw that the suffering was universal and so were the causes, hence the remedy also had to be universal.

He decided to use the breath, as it stayed with man from his birth to death, and had no sectarian or religious limitation.

In the first step of a 10 day Vipassana course, one is taught to observe the incoming and outgoing breath.

The mind, not accustomed to staying in one place, much less obeying, runs away.

It brings up all kinds of memories and distractive thoughts.

Each memory brings with it a physical manifestation in the form of a bodily sensation.

A heaviness, numbness, tickling - a discernible physical sensation.

One is taught, and learns to watch the breath and feel the sensation in the first step called ANAPANA.

Then comes VIPASSANA when one goes all over ones own body with the now sharpened and more obedient mind, discerning the sensations, identifying them but learning NOT to react to them.

The WHY? is the essence of His teaching!

One learns, by ones own experience, that these sensations on our own body come and go as they please, that they are ever-changing and one has no control over them.

If there is a pleasant sensation and you request, order or plead with it to stay, it does not listen to you.

If there is an unpleasant one and you want it to go away fast, it seems to hang on forever.

It's your own body, but you have no control over the sensations over it !

So what does one do ?

One learns to watch them without reacting.

These bodily sensations are the physical manifestations of our thoughts and habit-patterns of long.

Any one may precede the other, but they are inseparable.

Now, when one reacts to the thought that has arisen by either craving or aversion, one strengthens that habit pattern.

It is not easy to hang on to a thought - it has no body, it is like a free-flying kite or a ferocious dog without a leash.

So instead, one concentrates on the physical manifestations that has accompanied it.

We go over the body with our mind slowly, ignoring the enticing thoughts but stop and watch the sensation without reacting to it.

In practising to do so, we learn to take a step back, not drown in emotions, be equanimous in all kinds of situations.

As one practises Vipassana, the mind calms and is at peace even in times of strife and sorrow.

The old stock of habit-patterns, of craving, aversion and ignorance gets diminished.

There comes a time when you will not have made new stock, and the old one is over.

That, dear friends, is Nirvana or Liberation from the cycle of birth and death!

One does not have to wait to experience peace of mind till one dies or goes to heaven or in the next birth.

Each one who practises it honestly, does so right here, from the 7th or 8th day onwards, right in the course.

Essentially, The Buddha taught that each one's liberation was in their own hands, that irrespective of caste, colour, race, gender-everyone could work towards one's own liberation.

The time taken would depend on the stock one has come with and the sincerety of work, but there is really no one who would 'bless' you or give you a ride because you were born a Brahmin or rich or were a king or performed many rituals.

Different from Hinduism, isn't it ?!

During The Buddha's time and for a few hundred years after him, people practised the technique as He had taught and many thousands in the Northern India were liberated.

The other prevalant religions naturally felt the sting, because here, there was no place for any middleman between a person of any origin and his liberation.

The people of established religions, the millions whose daily bread depended on hundreds of rituals and blind-faith and so on, had to do something to keep their power over people and riches intact.

Mandar, this should partly answer your question.

I like my blogs to be short, and this is already quite a long one, so I will explain the third and the most beautiful step of this technique in the next one.

Chew this over.

Become aware of your breath and how it changes, subtly, with your thoughts.

Please do not try other steps on your own, there are certain pre-requesites!

More next time.

Including the relevant sites.

Have a great day -
